8 Cafés to Satisfy Every Sweet and Savoury Craving

Ever wondered what’s with the recent hype of people patronizing one café after another these days? Non-café lovers will stereotype all cafes as being the ‘same’ – similar side, main or desert menu. “Nothing special yet pricey”. However, is that really true?

Adventurous foodies, or ‘café hoppers’, will know that each and every café is distinctive in their own way, whether it’s through concept, philosophy or specialty. This explains the ever-growing café rave and why most cafés are worth more than just one visit. If you are thinking of getting on the café hopping bandwagon, check out this list of cafes we have for you:

Artistry

Upon arriving at Artistry, the monotone platforms catch your eye as the alternate black and white tones give the illusion of piano keys. Plus, there is a photo booth area for instagrammers to take the popular #ootd (outfit of the day) shots! True to its name, this art gallery cum café positions itself as a welcoming platform for emerging artists to showcase their art pieces and performances. They also hold events like talks in its cosy area. For a more tranquil atmosphere, consider having your meal at the al freco tables.

Signature dishes: Chilli Crab Burger and the Peanut Butter and Jelly stuffed French Toast.

Supply & Demand

After the long hours of retail therapy in town and you’re all ‘rumbly in your tumbly’, pop by Supply & Demand at Orchard Gateway for some Italian-Asian fusion cuisine. With both indoor and outdoor seating, the spacious yet cosy interior definitely improves the dining experience for all. Thumbs up for their 13” pizzas and truffle fries! What’s best is that the truffle fries are chunky, fragrant and paired with 2 different dips! Garlic lovers will enjoy the huge pieces of garlic in their fries. As for the pizzas, an order of La Mattina Dopo (The Morning After) will not go wrong. The visually appealing soft egg set in the middle makes one drool for sure.

Just so you know, the pastas at Supply & Demand are available in both tasting ($13) and main portions ($17). Well, there is no harm ordering the main portion with a larger quantity for a mere additional $4 right?

O’ma Spoon Korean Desert Café

Adorably, the name ‘O’ma Spoon’ translates to ‘Mother Spoon’. This is meant to bring a warm-hearted connotation to the café, where every spoonful of the milk ice is supposed to be shaved and served with a ‘mother’s love’. As the bingsu is made using fresh milk topped with real fruits, it is a healthy yet mouth-watering treat for all. What keeps customers coming back for more of the delicate milk ice is how it melts in the mouth so effortlessly, literally like snow! For matcha fans, do give the green tea bingsu a try.
