Singapore Writers Festival

The Singapore Writers Festival is one of the few multi-lingual literary festivals in the world as it commemorates Singapore’s multicultural society in its celebration of works in English, Malay, Chinese and Tamil which are the primary local languages. This year’s theme is “Utopia | Dystopia” which centers on what constitutes a utopian location in terms of physical spaces, countries and even worlds. The festival aims to look beyond the obvious science fiction and fantasy genres for answers and delve instead into the realms of non-fiction based on issues such as familial discord and morality. Highlights of the festival include meet-ups with authors such as Fatima Bhutto and Roy Jacobsen, panel discussions, film screenings, lectures and much more. The 10 day festival will host events catering to everyone from children to literary enthusiasts and those craving intellectual stimulation.

The Phantom Unmasked

Sundown Festival 2013

The annual Sundown Festival is back for the fifth time and promises to be an event Asian music lovers everywhere would not want to miss out on. Celebrate the best of Asian pop culture and music with this year’s lineup of rising stars and established entertainers across the continent as they entertain you with a whopping 8 hours of rock and pop hits. Ten acts from countries such as Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand showcase the best Asian talent in today’s music industry. Amongst the star studded ensemble are Filipino singer-song writer and one of the founding members of the band “River Maya” Rico Blanco; Taiwanese Mandopop singer Yoga Lin and Indonesian alternative rock band Nidji. To add to the festivities, the Asian Food Village will be serving up scrumptious regional Asian street fare. There will also be fringe performances featuring “Tinikling”, a bamboo dance from the Philippines and traditional Thai kickboxing known as “Muaythai”.

Amore Women’s Day Out 2013
