Where food and drinks are concerned, Singapore has it all. Between September and October, besides celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival, Halloween and Deepavali, you will see the city rah-rah with Oktoberfest. Expect German beer themed parties and promotions all around Singapore’s hotels, pubs and restaurants. Sure to satisfy beer fans with their variety of handcrafted beers, check out some of the islands most popular microbreweries such as Brewerkz, Paulaner Bräuhaus, Red Dot Brewhouse and The Pump Room. Alternatively if you’re in Vivo City, visit Queen and Mangosteen for their exotic Archipelago beers infused with Asian ingredients such as calamansi, tamarind, Indian coriander, lemongrass, ginger, pandan leaves and other Asian spices. These great tasting beers are also accompanied with delicious beer food.

2 Baba Bling Baba Bling: The Peranakans and their Jewellery
29 May - 13 December 2009
The Peranakans are a special ethnic race in Singapore, popular for their exceptional cuisine and culture. Baba refers to the male, while Nyonya refers to the female gender of the Peranakans.
The Baba Bling exhibition will showcase the jewellery of their heritage contributed by various Peranakan families and private collectors from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Some 300 jewels – contemporary and traditional – will be exhibited. Some of the jewellery are even close to two hundred years old. Visitors can also learn more about the workmanship of the jewellery from the moulds and tools used by the goldsmiths during that time period.

The exhibition will also feature over 200 artefacts - some newly acquired and showcased for the first time - telling the story of Singapore. See how the old landscape of the Singapore river, Fort Canning Hill, and Raffles Place looks like before urbanization through topography.

Osage Singapore presents Jane Lee's inaugural major solo exhibition after her win at the Singapore Art Show in 2007. Along with her other works, Lee will explore the processes of painting and materiality through her huge installation presented recently at the Singapore Biennale 2008. The audience will also be able to see the progression in her artistic practice since 2004.

This edition's theme "Architecture for Humanity" will exhibit the heart-warming effort by architects who provided invaluable contributions and supported community development around the world by building low cost social housing, disaster relief housing, schools and providing social design services. The exhibition hopes to inspire other architects and encourage more to build safer, sustainable and relevant environments.

Known for his fascinating animal-human hybrid paintings that personify tongue-in-cheek metaphors of human behavior in society, award-winning Singaporean contemporary oil painter and sculptor David Chan will launch his third solo exhibition in Singapore. Chan will feature 30 art pieces, of which 15 will be exhibited for the first time. His paintings which use bold colours, strong imagery and an obscured sense of humour, will urge you to look beyond artificial expression to the core of society's soul.

This year’s theme “Renaissance of Love” celebrates the revival of love in all forms. The 10-day bling-bling event will have a two-part showcase – Love of Romance (Oct 9-13) and Love In All Its Glory (Oct 14-18) – parading a dazzling assortment of jewellery that represents marital and family love. Another highlight is the showcase of Rare and Coveted Treasures presented by official champagne sponsor Piper Heidsieck featuring six "treasures" worth over SG$7 million.

Photochoreography fuses two art forms - the live performance of great classical music and the giant-screen multi-image photographic-essays that honour the music. James Westwater showcases his masterful photochoreography to delight audiences with Wilderness Suite . Specially for this concert, James Westwater will also be creating a new work featuring photos taken by photojournalists from Singapore Press Holdings.
