1. National Museum of Singapore

With iconic post-modern architectural design by award-winning W-architects, the NMS can stake her claim as the Singapore’s must-visit museum. The NMS presents history in exhibitions, art installations and film screenings, using cutting-edge and modern ways.

2. Singapore Art Museum

Singapore Art Museum

Singapore Art Museum has a South-Asian collection that can rank as one of the best in the world. These include works by pioneering and young artists and range from the painterly to the minimal and abstract. The newly opened 8QSAM, just down the road is a new space targeted at youth, with fresh programming and new art.  The SAM is located just across the road from the National Museum of Singapore.

3. LASALLE College of the Arts

LASALLE College of the ArtsLASALLE is a campus of sheer imagination. This splintering array of green glass fractals, hanging bridges and deep dark stone, has won numerous architecture awards. The design epitomizes the spirit of creativity and the arts.

Relax at the campus green, a turf of synthetic grass right in the middle of the campus grounds. Be energized by the frantic pulse of young students rushing for classes. Take in the art exhibitions happening within the College galleries.

You can start off an artsy day-trip at LASALLE and walk to art destinations such as NSM and SAM.

4. Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay

Esplanade - Theatres on the BayThe Esplanade, also nicknamed as “The Durian” after the tropical fruit, is the most exciting arts and performance venue in town. Within the unique spiked domes, houses a concert hall, theatre space, smaller intimate venues, restaurants and even a library. The programming centers on presenting shows around annual themed festivals such as Mosaic (jazz), Baybeats (local music), Da:ns (dance), Huayi (Chinese culture) and M1 Singapore Fringe (arts).

5. Mint Museum of Toys

Mint Museum of ToysThe brainchild of a local toy collector and entrepreneur, the Mint showcases a toy collection from more than 25 countries and spanning more than 100 years old. 50,000 collectables, from cartoon characters such as Tintin, AstroBoy, Batman, Popeye to Teddy Bears and Comics… The collection is truly extensive and inventive. There is something to engage children and to captivate the child within grownups.
