In Memoriam: Lee Kuan Yew

A giant amongst men who has been described as authoritarian, draconian and yet is affectionately referred to as ah gong (grandpa) by the younger generation of Singaporeans, Mr Lee Kuan Yew had an immeasurable impact on the growth and direction of the country. Learn more about him and how he shaped Singapore in this memorial exhibition paying tribute to Singapore's first Prime Minister.

Beauty and the Beast

SIFAS Festival of Indian Classical Music & Dance

Singapore’s multi-racial and multi-cultural heritage is world-famous, and as part of the SG50 celebrations, the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS) has organised a Festival of Indian Classical Music & Dance. Listen to spiritual and mystical voice recitals, or enjoy the passionate dance performances that will be put on as Bollywood singers and well-known dancers make their way into town just for the festival.

Vintage Toys from Over 40 Countries

The MINT (Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys) Museum of Toys is a private museum belonging to a Singaporean collector. One of the largest collections of its kind in Southeast Asia, this whimsical museum is now featuring over 50,000 pieces of vintage toys and childhood memorabilia from countries such as Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and even Bulgaria. SINGAPORE STRIPPED! (R18) A Comedy Roast of The Lion City

Who says Singapore’s lacking a sense of humour? Touting itself as the SG50 show that the government doesn’t want you to see, SINGAPORE STRIPPED! promises to be full of risqué material that is not suitable for those under 18. With characters Crispy the Talking Cock – a demented robot chicken – and his human sidekick Cindy Fung, SINGAPORE STRIPPED! will reveal a different side of Singapore.

The Studios: fifty

Celebrate five decades of local English theatre with this selection of five full-length productions and 16 sets of dramatised readings, totalling 50 plays. Part of the national arts centre’s year-long SG50 celebration, this programme will showcase new and upcoming directors alongside veterans. The performances span various genres, and provide an excellent chance to sample what Singapore’s literary scene has to offer.

Southeast Asian Film Festival 2015

Now in its fifth edition, here’s a golden chance to catch a curated selection of some of the most powerful cinematic works from the region. Films from Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Malaysia and of course Singapore will be shown in addition to collaborations with Taiwan, Netherlands, France, Portugal, Serbia and more. Post-screening discussions with selected directors will also be conducted.

Affordable Art Fair Singapore 2015

The Affordable Art Fair is back! It aims to spread awareness of art for everyone, and features art that can be had for anywhere between S$100 to S$10,000. 75% of the art displayed can be had for under S$7,500 and the clear labelling of prices ensures that you will know exactly what you can afford.
