Snakes and Ladders

It is the year of the snake in the Chinese zodiac, and to celebrate, the Singapore Philatelic Museum has put up an exhibition about this fascinating reptile. Bring the kids down to discover little-known facts about snakes. The permanent galleries at the museum introduce visitors to the world of philately, the study of stamps and postal history and other related items. Museum admission rates are $6 for adults and $4 for children aged 3 to 12. Museum admission is free on New Year's Day, Chinese New Year, National Day, Hari Raya Puasa, Deepavali and Christmas Day.

The World Street Food Congress 2013

Calling all foodies! Street food is one of the most easily accessible parts of any nation’s culture. Zoolympix 2013: Rescue Rangers

The Zoolympix are back for the 2013 school holidays. Wildlife across the world is in danger and your children are needed to save the planet! There are six different rescue missions to be completed, and participants will receive their reward at the end with a sure-win lucky dip. The Zoolympix are from 10 am to 4 pm daily, and cost $3 to take part. It is recommended for children between 5 and 12 years of age. The registration booth is at the start of the Treetops Trail. Admission to the zoo is not included.

Singapore Street Festival 2013

The Singapore Street Festival (SSF) uses street culture programmes to provide a performance platform for youths from Singapore and the region to showcase their skills and creativity. The SSF launches with the Vision into REALITY Concert and is headlined by SSF mentors and friends. Renowned artists such as Robert Fernando, Tama Goh, Khor Ai Ming and Erick Guansing among others will be sharing the stage with young performers. The SSF’s varied programme also includes a graffiti art showcase, a street dance competition, urban football freestyle competition, street magic performances and more!

Beerfest Asia 2013

Road to EVO: South East Asia Major 2013

Gamers who are into fighting games might want to check out the South East Asia Major, the largest fighting game tournament in Asia. 60 players from 11 countries will be attending this tournament, competing against each other in Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3, King of Fighters XIII, Soul Calibur V and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend, among others. If you can’t make it down, don’t worry – the tournament will be streamed live.

Yfest 2013

Swing by the Esplanade and watch performers at this youth festival sing and dance their hearts out at the Y-Singstations and Urban Zone. Visitors will also be encouraged to try out graffiti painting under the guidance of local graffiti artists. The Swop Shop at the Esplanade Festival Village provides an opportunity for everyone to “freecycle” their unwanted clothes, books, DVDs and more. You could also blast out some tunes yourself at the K-OK! Booth, an arcade style karaoke machine.

Chris Tucker The Return Tour Singapore

Hollywood funnyman Chris Tucker is bringing his stand up show to Singapore for the first time. Prepare for a night of laughs from the man who has worked alongside Jackie Chan, Luc Besson, Quentin Tarantino, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro. Comedian Terry Hodges opens this one night only performance. As the show contains adult language and sexual content, audience members must be aged 16 and above.
