Ask any Singaporean what the national pastimes in Singapore are, and the answers that come back are likely to be “eating” or “shopping”. Singaporeans will travel the island to investigate any rumour of a superior dish – consider it a form of shopping around, if you will. In the same vein, Singaporeans will traverse the country in search of the best bargains, and the newest shopping malls in town.

In addition to Singapore’s renowned shopping hotspots such as the posh Orchard Road, the family-friendly Vivocity, the eco-friendly City Square Mall and the 24-hour Mustafa Centre, Singapore has rolled out its red carpet to several new additions.

Bugis+

Along the bustling Victoria Street now stands Bugis+. Formerly known as Iluma, Bugis+ underwent months of transformation to pave way for a whole new shopping experience. The mall now boasts of 90 new store outlets, more entertainment, more food and beverage options and more diversity for its shoppers. The 194,000 ft2 (18,023 m2) Bugis+ retained Iluma’s trademark illuminated ‘crystal’ façade. It is connected to Bugis Junction via a bridge at the second level, giving you easy mall-hopping access and making strolling around the pulsating Bugis area a whole lot easier.

Changi City Point

Located right at the heart of Changi Business Park, Changi City Point offers an invigorating diversion from the area’s mix of high technology businesses, research and division centres and knowledge intensive facilities. The mall is located close to Changi Airport and Singapore Expo, one of region’s largest conference and exhibition centres. Changi City Point has loads of activities for the whole family – a landscaped rooftop garden, interactive art installations, an outdoor gallery for a variety of performances, a playground and a tree-house trail. When it comes to satisfying your palate, the mall features a wide selection of restaurants, Koufu and Bagus, a halal-certified food court. Changi City Point offers free shuttle bus services from two locations – Changi Business Park and Simei MRT. Shuttle bus service from Changi Business Park operates from from 11:30am to 2:00pm, Mondays through Fridays while shuttle service from Simei MRT operates from 11:30am to 2:00pm, Mondays through Sundays.

JCube

Located right at the heart of the dazzling Jurong Lake District, JCube is a hip shopping mall that infuses new excitement to the retail, dining and entertainment scene in Jurong East. Uniquely designed to emulate an ice cube, the façade of JCube reflects natural light by day and sparkles by night. The mall also houses Singapore’s first and only Olympic-size ice skating rink. The 60 by 30 metre rink has a 46-seat gallery and is specially designed to host international ice events and competitions, including ice hockey, curling and speed skating. JCube also has an IMAX theatre, a huge selection of retail shops and extended-hours dining options.
