The annual Baybeats alternative music festival is back! Wondering what the line-up is like? Well, we’ve got the deets. Check out the bands that will be performing, and get a taste of their music while you’re at it! Here, we’ve listed all the bands performing at the Chillout Stage, Powerhouse and Arena on 26 June. Yllis makes music of the future—experimental electronic pop that melds wonky bass music and sino-grime influences with infectious R&B vocal hooks. His debut EP ISLAND-01 finds parallels between the struggle for expression and identity, and the yearning for unrequited love.

Choi Sai-Ho (HK)

A multimedia musician and media artist, the award-winning Choi has been listed as one of Hong Kong’s 10 best bands by CNNGo and one of Hong Kong’s top 20 musicians by Time Out. He has performed in several countries, and released his album Sync in 2015.

The Little Giant

The Little Giant picked up the ukulele at 18, and went on to write songs on both ukulele and guitar. She draws inspiration from books and movies, singing about the tragic undertones of life and love in songs full of melodious charm and whimsical flavour.

Sphaeras

Formed in 2014, Sphaeras plays a distinct blend of math rock and post rock, and is not tied down to any specific genre. They have performed alongside international math rock bands such as tricot and toe. The band released their critically acclaimed debut album Moirai in 2015, and will be releasing an EP soon.

Sunset Rollercoaster (TW)

Sunset Rollercoaster’s music fuses multiple genres from soul and garage to psychedelic and synth-pop, with absurd lyrics on the fantasy of love. They released their debut album Bossa Nova to critical acclaim in 2011, and just released the EP Jinji Kikko this year.

Lost Weekend

Formed after a serendipitous encounter in a guitar shop in 2011 where they discovered a shared love for ’90s music and Tiger beer, this Singapore indie pop band makes music that is an unexpected blend of guitar-driven rock and modern dream pop. Some of the band’s key achievements include the release of their critically acclaimed eponymous debut album in 2015. They have performed at some of Singapore’s larger stages including Baybeats and Singapore Night Festival in 2014.

Majestic, riotous, powerful—Bear Culture is an alt-prog quintet with roots in alternative rock, combined with elements of 1980s rock, metal and modern pop sensibilities, resulting in a sound that is modern, pummelling, and eclectic. They released their eponymous album in 2015, featuring a sound characterised by soaring vocals and melodic passages, juxtaposed again hard-hitting beats and ferocious guitar solos.
